Transport
We run our own minibus services providing a reliable and safe way for students to travel to Redmaids’ High from Bristol and beyond. Our current minibus routes cover Redland, Clifton, and South Bristol.
To enhance our transport offering, the school is now partnering with Vectare, a specialist school transport software company used by a number of our sister schools within the GDST.
The Transport Guide sets out the minibus school transport options available to students and gives details about how to book places and download the app. The system allows you to quickly and easily book, cancel and edit your child’s travel bookings. You can also log in and see exactly where your child’s bus is along its route and get alerts when your child gets on and off the bus.
Bookings for the next academic year will open at the end of August and will allow you to book travel for each term or academic year in advance. We ask that you get your child to the bus stop 5 minutes before the bus is due to depart in the mornings. Junior School parents need to be with their children whilst they get on board in the morning.
Please note, there are currently waiting lists for all three bus routes so please contact the School directly if you would like to be added to the waiting list for September 2026.
For students who are travelling from further afield, there is a good network of public buses and private bus services. More details can be found on the ‘Travel Information’ PDF.
Safe travel
As a school, we ask everyone to play their part in reducing congestion in the local area at peak drop-off and pick-up times. For students, this means walking, cycling or using public transport to get to school.
Our Junior School takes part in the ‘Living Streets’ programme, where pupils earn badges for travelling actively to school. They have already achieved their Bronze Modeshift Stars Award which reflects the positive steps being taken.
We ask all parents to be respectful to our neighbours and to refrain from parking across the driveways and garages of local residents. Similarly, yellow zig-zag lines or double yellow lines should not be used as drop-off points.
Cycling to school
We have space for 50 bicycles in three shelters on the school site, and work closely with Bristol City Council to provide Bikeability training at Level 2 and 3, as well as ‘Dr Bike’ maintenance skills.
