Choosing the right A Level subjects may seem daunting at first. However, our Sixth Form team are here to advise and guide you through the vast range of subject choices available, ensuring you make the best choices to compliment your interests.
As leaders in girls’ education, we understand that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to developing an individual’s strengths and abilities. We aim to provide our students with ongoing support and a bespoke learning experience. Identifying the right combination of A Level subjects is crucial: we will help you identify the subjects you are passionate about and look at which subjects will enable you to achieve your university or career goals. All subjects are taught by subject specialists in our wide and varied programme.
Most of our A Level students will take three or four linear A Levels, with external examinations at the end of Year 13. On top of this, most students take at least one other course. It could be an additional GCSE in German, an AS Level in Photography, Core Maths, a High Sports Leaders Award, or the popular Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) which may be completed in Year 12 or Year 13. The EPQ is an extremely popular, research-based qualification comprising a single extended piece of work on a topic of their choice. It is a qualification highly valued by universities as it demonstrates ability beyond the A Level curriculum and shows that students can undertake the independent reading, research, and essay writing that is the mainstay of most undergraduate degrees.
Sixth Form students also follow a timetabled Lighthouse programme and receive professional, on-going support for the university admissions (UCAS) process.
Our Lighthouse programme is designed to help students succeed in their personal and professional lives after school. It includes bespoke sessions on a range of important topics including;
- Public speaking
- Personal branding
- Gender equality
- Managing bills, debts and credit
- Unconscious bias
