Piano recital at Redmaids' High School Bristol

A fully rounded curriculum

Our curriculum is carefully constructed to provide your daughter with a truly holistic education. It provides a generous range of options, ensuring she has the ideal preparation for future challenges and stays healthy both physically and mentally.

From Years 7 to 9 students study a broad and balanced curriculum, providing an ideal foundation for the GCSE options process. It includes two foreign languages, and all girls in Years 7 to 8 also learn Latin.

We begin teaching Science iGCSE in Year 9, which provides excellent grounding for your daughter’s public examinations in Year 11. Sport and Music are well catered for within the curriculum, and our extensive extra-curricular activities programme adds interest and variety to every school day. At this stage, we place strong emphasis on developing independent learning and academic skills.

Choice to broaden young minds

In Years 10 and 11, your daughter will study between nine and twelve GCSEs. Compulsory subjects are English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, a Modern Foreign Language and Biology, Chemistry and Physics*. She can then chose from a wide range of subjects to match her personal strengths. These include Russian, Business Studies, Computer Science and Dance.

We encourage girls to broaden their minds by exploring interests outside their examined subjects with our ‘enrichment programme’. With classes ranging from art appreciation to yoga, first aid to taking part in the Model United Nations, this is a popular and enjoyable choice.

To ensure your daughter’s school life is not just successful but also healthy we timetable in space for Wellbeing. It helps girls learn many valuable things including how to look after their mental health, eat well and manage budgets.

*leading to three separate iGCSEs or the Dual Science Qualification (equivalent to two iGCSEs).

I would like to thank the staff who have enabled my daughter to become the person she is. She is thriving at Redmaids' High having found a place where she can be herself, and find herself, and that is a gift for which we are all very grateful.
