We focus on building students' language skills in four key areas – listening, reading, speaking, and writing – and develop these skills using up-to-date course material and games from the internet. Students also benefit from practice sessions with foreign language assistants in Years 10 and 11 and sometimes earlier.
We have four dedicated classrooms, all of which have data projectors and computers.
All students study two languages from Year 7 with the option of French, German, Russian or Spanish, and take at least one language to GCSE. We have recently adopted the IGCSE course for French, German and Spanish, and follow the Edexcel syllabus for Russian.

Enrichment and extra-curricular
We encourage students to take part in foreign exchanges and run regular school trips to France, Germany, Spain and Russia. We also take part in local foreign language quizzes, restaurant trips to sample the cuisine of different cultures and local and national competitions.
