The English classrooms are all based around the Pearson Library in Burfield House, perhaps symbolising that reading underpins so much of what we do.
We teach in mixed ability groups in Years 7 to 11, and all pupils follow the Edexcel IGCSE courses in English Language and English Literature.

Enrichment and extra-curricular
We encourage girls to appreciate the value of reading beyond the classroom, and we work closely with Library staff to organise book clubs, plan author visits and encourage a life-long love of reading for pleasure.
Girls who love putting pen to paper can be stretched through Writers’ Den, our Creative Writing Club and there are always plenty of chances to write for DaisyChain, our school newspaper, as well as entering national writing competitions.
Debating clubs, public speaking opportunities and poetry recitals are all popular ways to extend oral skills, and we are proud of the confidence our girls demonstrate as they represent us in these areas.
There are regular trips to theatres and cinemas, both locally and further afield.
