Wishing Mrs Davidson a very happy retirement

Today we bid a fond farewell to an excellent teacher, supportive colleague and good friend, Mrs Perdita Davidson.

Mrs Davidson was at Redland High for 17 years and took on the role of Acting Headmistress there during the merger, before joining Redmaids’ High for the past year. She is an extremely valued member of our community and our senior management team. Not only is she an excellent English teacher, but her calm disposition and kind heart have always made her someone that students and staff alike turn to for advice and guidance.

At a tea party on Monday, past and present colleagues, students, parents and governors came to send Mrs Davidson off in style. Fitting tributes from Ms McCormack and Mrs Rodliffe had the room in tears, and alumnae Alice Bird and Frannie Millar performed a beautiful song they had written for her. Mrs D herself delivered a charming and hilarious speech – true to form – and revealed the only thing she has planned for her retirement so far is taking up line-dancing lessons!

Although we are sad to be saying goodbye to a friend, we thank her for all she has taught us and the value she has added to our lives. After a teaching career spanning 36 years, we fully understand her decision to put away her pencil case and dig out her Stetson (!) and we wish her the very the happiest of retirements.
