Recognition for an "inspirational individual".

Our Head of IT, Mrs Bramley-Dymond, is one of five inspirational educators in the running for the BAFTA Young Game Designers’ Mentor Award.

This award is presented to an inspirational individual involved in the education of young game creators in the UK. The finalists are all people who have inspired young people to learn programming and game design skills – particularly reaching out to those who might not typically try their hand at game design.

The student who made the nomination said, “Mrs Bramley-Dymond has been a huge source of support not only for me, but for everyone in the Code Club that she started at our school. From getting external speakers in, to giving us a taste of what ‘virtual reality’ can be, to embracing four-hour train rides to allow us to participate in App and game development competitions, Mrs Bramley-Dymond is with us every step of the way.

“She had added RSS feeds on the school’s Virtual Learning Environment to tech companies like Wired, to keep us up to date with the latest developments, and organises annual trips to the Wired Next Generation convention.

“Most recently, she launched a school radio station with a team of students.”

Speaking of this nomination, Mrs Tobias said, “I am delighted that Mrs Bramley-Dymond’s passion for her subject has being recognised in this way. There is no greater accolade for anyone working in education than hearing you have inspired your students.”

The winner will be revealed at the Young Game Designer’s Awards Ceremony being held at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly, London, on Saturday 8 July.
