Evy heads Stateside

We were delighted to hear that Evy in Year 12 has received funding from the Rotary Club to attend the 2018 World Affairs Seminar in the States in June.

This award follows a rigorous selection process which involved a written application, followed by two separate interviews with senior Rotarians. As Evy explained, “I understand 15 students were short-listed for the second round of interviews, so I am delighted to be one of three successful candidates heading to the States.”

The seminar brings young people together from across the world to discuss some of the challenges we face. It aims to provide the delegates, described as ‘future world leaders’, with a better understanding of the causes of international conflict. The candidates will hear from a range of experts before being tasked to distill information, identify priorities and work with each other to reach conclusions.

“When I was 13, I spent a month at the Pymble Ladies College in Sydney, and earlier this year, I was part of a team that carried out charity work in Tanzania” explains Evy. “This seminar is a fantastic opportunity for me to broaden and deepen my international perspective and provide me with experience of working alongside students from very different cultures and backgrounds.”
