Another Year of GCSE Success!

Redland independent school results

Redland High School is celebrating today after another year of excellent GCSE results across a wide range of subjects.

Last week's successful Science A Level results were repeated at GCSE level, with over 70% of all pupils studying Biology, Chemistry or Physics achieving the top A* / A grade. However, this success was certainly not confined to the Sciences as girls achieved top class results across the curriculum.

Modern Languages also saw excellent results, with 65% of students receiving A* / A grades. While last week's national A Level results caused commentators to discuss falling grades in German, GCSE students at Redland High bucked the trend again as nearly 80% of students studying German at the School secured an A* or A grade. In English Literature, over three quarters of pupils were awarded the A*/A grades.

The Creative Arts Departments (Fine Art, Drama and Music) are all celebrating as over 85% of their students secured A*/A grades, with all Fine Art students achieving the top A*/A grade. This follows a successful year for the Art Department, which has seen its pupils win a number of local and national awards for their work.

Overall, 91% of pupils at the independent school have been awarded at least one A* / A grade and a quarter of pupils are celebrating straight A* / A grades.

Isabel Whitehead, from Redland, excelled with 11A* grades and is looking forward to starting in the Sixth Form at Redland High in September. Megan Matthews, who lives in Chew Magna and whose younger sister is also at Redland High, achieved nine A* grades and two A grades.

Mrs Caroline Bateson, Headmistress at Redland High School, congratulated her students, "I am delighted that that once again our students are celebrating some fantastic results across all areas of the curriculum. A* and A grades account for 60% of all grades at the School. We look forward to welcoming the girls into the Sixth Form in September where they will be able to build on this success."
