Regional Champions

At Millfield on Tuesday, our U13 hockey squad played superbly, beating stiff competition to become Regional Champions.

They had a tough pool, but were strong, gritty and determined, and decisively won all six matches against Blundell’s, Queen’s College, Katherine Lady Berkeley, Sherborne Prep, The Elms Colwall and Truro School. In total, they scored 15 goals and conceded just one.

The girls then faced Dean Close in the semi-final which was always going to be tough, but following a hat-trick from Saskia they won 3-1 to face Millfield in the final.

Both teams were tired, having already played seven matches, and a 1-1 draw took the game to penalty flicks. At this point, the girls held their nerve, and with Evie making some fantastic saves in goal, they secured victory.

Having won the country and now the regional stage, the girls will travel to Nottingham to face the best teams from across the country on Friday 11 May.

As Hockey Coach Jackie Lawrence said, “This was a fantastic team performance. Every single player gave their all and contributed to today’s success.”
