National hockey finalists

Redmaids High U13 hockey squad

Congratulations to our entire U13 hockey squad who achieved second place and won a silver medal in the National U13 Independent Schools Hockey Cup (ISHC).

Having travelled to Ilford, the girls faced a strong side in Royal Grammar School, Newcastle in the semi-final stage and found themselves 0-1 at half time.

In the second half they fought back and scored two quick goals to take the lead. It was very tense when Newcastle scored again to equalise and it looked like going to extra time. Fortunately, Martha scored in the final moments of the game (making it a hat trick for her) which took the team through to the final.

At this stage, the girls faced Reigate Grammar - a tough, physical side who played hard. Our girls gave everything they had but it wasn't to be, and we lost that match.

Speaking of their success, Miss Maggs Director of Sport said, "To achieve second place in a National Cup Competition is a fantastic achievement for this talented group of girls. They have worked hard this season and show great promise for the future."
