The Redmaids' High annual 'Tomorrow's World' Women and Careers in Medicine Conference for girls currently in Year 10 returns on Friday 17 May.

More than 250 visiting state and independent school students from across the region will join our own girls for a fascinating day of talks and hands-on learning about a wide range of medical occupations and developments.

Our keynote speakers are Dr Karine Zander, Consultant Anaesthetist from Bristol’s Southmead Hospital, and Professor Bob Stone, Director of the Human Interface Technologies Team at the University of Birmingham

They will be joined by other specialists from the medical profession and academia leading interactive workshops on a host of topics including midwifery, dentistry, physiotherapy, para-medicine, sports rehabilitation, optometry, and neuroscience.

Headmistress Isabel Tobias said: "We arrange this conference every year for our own students and those from visiting schools.

"The aim is to inspire them in their ongoing learning, and provide role models of women making a difference in today's society, as well as being at the forefront of many innovations for the future.”

The conference, now in its tenth year, has an alternating STEM theme - Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths - widening girls' understanding of such careers and where more women are needed.
