Girls speak out

On Saturday, Farin, Evelyn and Molly competed in the National Final of the Rotary 'Youth Speaks' public speaking competition.

The event brings together the best public speakers in the UK, as all seven winners of each region, including Scotland, gather to see who is the 'best of the best'.

It is the most prestigious and longest-running competition of this kind in the country.

This final saw the highest standard the Rotary Club have ever seen in its long history, and in the face of such stiff competition, the girls came home with one of the two runners-up trophies!

It was an achievement made all the more impressive as they had to overcome the disruption of a last-minute change to the team. Molly, having bravely replaced main speaker Niki due to her filming commitments, had just one week to learn a six-minute speech and performed so brilliantly under the intense pressure of the final, making the role her own. Farin also won the prize for best Vote of Thanks role in the competition.

All three girls remained professional and fully deserved their success for all their hard work.
