Great fun and learning was had at Blaise Castle when Year 2 and their teachers cast off from the classroom for a Forest Adventure session.
They explored their surroundings, climbing banks, picking up sticks and splashing through the river in what is a completely child-led activity.
Mrs Lear, from our Infant School teaching team, said: “Getting into the outdoors fosters curiosity, problem-solving, freedom of thought and team work. The children can take risks, and challenge themselves while learning about the natural world.
“We find that these experiences can also be a turning point for those who are quieter in the classroom. They often become leaders in outdoor tasks and really come out of themselves which is great to see.”
The troupe go equipped each time with string, pencils, scrap books, swatch books and magnifying glasses to help them make the most of the outdoors.
Reception and Year 1 also enjoy forest adventures on alternate weeks.
