Creativity abounds at St Briavels

St Briavels is an annual trip organised by staff from the English, Classical Civilisation and Drama Departments which aims to provide as much fun in the most creative way possible.

During the course of the weekend the students climb trees, write and sing songs, create and perform plays, put on costumes and this year, they even made works of art out of fruit and vegetables.

On one night, everyone dresses up according to the theme which this year was ‘fabulous food', so everyone dressed up as if they were attending a banquet.

Staff and students all stay in a big castle, and there is a ghost tour, for those who are not too scared! And while St Briavels is huge fun, it can get quite competitive as the girls work in teams to win the much coveted Knights Trophy.

Each team has a story that they focus on for the weekend. This year the stories chosen were the Dickens novel Oliver Twist, a lesser-known fairytale called Cap o’ Rushes, a medieval story called Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and the classical Greek myth Baucis and Philomen.

We can confirm that the winning team, aptly named ‘Cap O’ Redmaids’, were this year’s recipients of the trophy. Their Team Leader Lizzie collected the trophy in assembly and it is currently on display in Burfield House.
