Six Year 8 students recently completed a ten-week STEM activity run jointly by EDT, Industrial Cadets and Airbus, Filton.
The team were challenged with designing a new eco-friendly factory that uses sustainable and environmentally-friendly energy.
They enjoyed a tour around the Airbus site in Filton, and worked closely with three engineering mentors from Airbus to create a food waste factory, that harvested energy form solar panels and wind turbines.
Over time, the project taught the girls important skills such as planning, research, minute-taking and report-writing, all while working to strict deadlines.
At the end of the project, each member of the team graduated as a Bronze Industrial Cadet.
The assessors were impressed with their confident presentation skills, the well-executed project and the way they considered issues that would be relevent to the local community.
