The wait is over for Red Maids’ International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) students who collected their results on 5 July.
This year their combined efforts achieved an average point score per student of 37.6, far outstripping last year's world average of 30.1 points, and maintaining a consistently high score for the school.
They also achieved a top 10 place again in The Times annual IB results tables.
More than a quarter of the total cohort earned an incredible 42 points or more out of a possible 45.
One of them, former head almoner Fatima Yaqub, said: "I couldn’t believe it when I opened the envelope and saw my score.”
Fatima gained a total of 43 points, securing her first choice place at Imperial College London to study medicine. She was also awarded one of the college's much sought-after President's Undergraduate Scholarships.
Tasa Uney is another would-be doctor going to study medicine at her first choice university - Exeter. Tasa, who was the school’s Head Girl, said: “I’ll be sad to leave Red Maids’ but I am excited about what comes next.”
Former Bristol Youth Mayor, Issi Trout, who joined Red Maids' in the Sixth Form, specifically to study the IB, said: "The IB has been a rewarding programme and I'm glad to have been able to continue studying a wide breadth of subjects."
Issi is taking a gap year, working to fund her future travels around India and South America. She also hopes to continue her involvement as a youth adviser with Unicef.
Isabel Tobias, Headmistress at Red Maids’, said: “I am delighted for all the girls – they have worked very hard and achieved tremendous results."
The IB Class of 2015 will progress onto a wide range of disciplines including Biochemistry, History, Spanish, Medicine, Physics and Physiotherapy at some of the world’s leading universities including Birmingham, Exeter, Imperial College London and Manchester.
