A challenging and fulfilling curriculum

We have designed our broad academic curriculum to stretch, challenge and stimulate. But whilst our girls always aim high to fulfil their potential, they also know how to have fun.

A challenging and fulfilling curriculum

Our academic curriculum is designed to stretch, challenge and inspire.

Skilled teachers use the latest Apple technology to provide stimulating educational experiences, and each pupil has their own iPad. This means even our youngest pupils in Year 3 are adept with ‘Firefly’ – our school digital learning platform.

That said, tried and tested teaching methods that focus on multiplication tables, spelling, grammar and handwriting skills still have an important part to play.

Support for every ability level

Our core aim is always to meet the individual needs of each and every girl so they can achieve their full potential. Small class sizes (maximum of 20 in each class) mean every girl receives focused attention, and will receive additional support as and when required.

If your daughter is very able we will ensure she is stretched and challenged through wide-ranging opportunities outside the core curriculum. These include taking part in events such as Maths Challenges, Spelling Bees, the National Science Competition, the First Lego League Robotics Challenge and the Junior Memory Championship.

Reading

We actively encourage a love of reading, which is reflected in the quantity and quality of books our girls devour. This is supported by daily SQIURT sessions – ‘Sit Quietly It’s Reading Time’ – which are built into the timetable.

Sport for all

Sport has a major place in the curriculum. We want all our girls to have fun – regardless of ability – so we introduce them to a wide variety of sports. The main school sports are hockey, netball and cricket, and everyone enjoys a weekly swimming session.

Activity Hour

A great way to end the week is Activity Hour each Friday afternoon, where girls can choose from a range of options, from movie-making to country-dancing to coding to craft. Of course, this is in addition to the huge range of extra-curricular clubs we have on offer throughout the year.
