Welcome to the 48 Hour Film Challenge

Each year, keen filmmakers, writers, directors, producers and future stars of screen are invited to take part in our 48 Hour Film Challenge.

It's when teams from schools and extra-curricular clubs across Bristol are given the challenge of making an original film from start to finish in just 48 hours!

Whether you have managed to attend one of our free workshops or not, access to the workshop recordings will be available for you to view, to help you brush up on your their skills!

In 2021, we had an amazing panel of judges from within the film industry, including Col Needham, the founder and CEO of IMDb, the most famous online database for films, TV shows, video games, and streaming content. Mamma Mia! Screenplay writer Catherine Johnson and Director of the Bristol Encounters Film Festival Rich Warren.

Meet the judges

You can find more detailed information about the 2021 challenge here, including the rules and how the judging works and everything else you need to know.

It’s a fun, fast paced, creative challenge for students across the city to get involved with. We hope to launch more details of this year's challenge soon, but if you have any questions in the meantime,  please email the event organiser, Sarah Bramley Dymond on 48hours@redmaidshigh.co.uk.
