The classroom outside

Taking learning into the outside world brings it to life in amazing ways. Our girls can touch, hear and experience things that they will never forget. And, of course, it is great fun for all involved.

We believe strongly in the value of outdoor education for your daughter. That is why we take all girls out of the classroom as part of an extensive outdoor curricular programme. This gives the girls an opportunity to take risks, become robust learners, develop leadership skills and work in teams. Aside from being immensely enjoyable it leads on to positive outcomes back in the classroom.

Special memories for each year group

In Year 3, the girls spend two days with Mendip Outdoor Pursuits (MOP). They experience caving, climbing, canoeing and completing an assault course.

The Year 4 girls also spend three days with MOP where they take part in kayaking, caving, climbing, abseiling and an assault course. This trip includes an overnight stay.

Every year we take Year 5 and 6 to Skern Lodge in North Devon. They have a full week of activities including orienteering, abseiling, climbing, raft racing, surfing, and overnight bivouacking at Hartland Point.

We also provide plenty of additional extra-curricular opportunities for girls to cave, climb and canoe.

These outdoor experiences are very often the highlight of the girls’ year. Each one provides great memories, talking points and valuable lessons that cannot be taught any other way.
